Two hockey players — Glenbrook’s Caitlin Schneider and New Trier Green’s Charlie Burton — earned DailyNorthShore.com Athlete of the Month honors.
Skatin’ Caitlin capped off a brilliant senior season with the Glenbrook girls hockey team by coming up with a hat trick in the Amateur Hockey Association Illinois (AHAI) Blackhawk Cup state title game at United Center on March 17. Her three goals helped Glenbrook defeat Loyola Academy 7-3 in the final. The University of Wisconsin recruit finished the season with 30 goals and 42 points.
Charlie was in charge. Burton put the finishing touches on an outstanding season by leading New Trier Green to the state boys hockey championship. He had one goal in his team’s 4-2 win over Providence Catholic in the final on March 17 at United Center.
Burton, who was named the JJ O’Connor Male High School Player of the Year by the AHAI, ended up with 41 goals and 62 assists this season.
